Benefits for Babies

Little Chirps

"I love helping my baby play to the rhythm"

Parent / Carer bonding through music

Connect with your baby in new fun ways through music making, musical play, storytelling and multi-sensory experiences in our Classes! Babies bond through touch, eye contact, feeding, rocking, attention and through being spoken to. Some of these bonding activities feature frequently in various forms throughout our Baby Class Syllabus. New parents can learn more about their brand new little human and what they like, what surprises them, what makes them laugh and open up new avenues of communication. Our Classes offer parents new ideas for songs, activities and sensory play that they can explore at home.

"My baby is a real communicator!"

Boost early communication skills

A 2012 Study from McMaster University in Canada found that babies who participated in music classes in the early years of their life "smile more, communicate better and show earlier and more sophisticated brain responses to music."

Our Classes are hands on music and sensory classes which expose babies to activities that help develop not only their motor skills but also their social and language skills too! Any exposure to lannguage is good for babies - especially through an accessible activity such as making music.

The rhythm and sounds often encourage babies and toddlers to babble - and research shows that babbling is good for babies' brains!

"He's so confident shaking the tambourine"

Develop motor skills & coordination

Whether it is grasping a rainstick, shaking an egg shaker, reaching for bubbles, stroking the strange new crinkley material or learning to move in time with the rhythm, our Classes provide endless opportunities for babies to boost their gross and fine motor skills - and their confidence! With our younger classes we also include elements to promote eye tracking such as bringing an exciting new toy across the baby's field of vision and encourage their natural curiosity for the world around them!

What's that sound? What's that stroking my face? Where did the toy go?

With our toddler classes we focus a little more on musical participation and in storytelling with a variety of songs, pictures and props! Watch as your little one is filled with wonder and discovery!

"Music helps me soothe & settle my baby"

Emotional regulation & awareness

Our Classes integrate music as an important tool for expression and self-regulation from the very beginning of a child's life. Learn how to better soothe your little one at naptime or if they are upset through a familar song and rocking to a rhythm.

Music and familiar sensory prompts can also prove useful when worked into daily routines and transitions throughout the week. Having a naptime song that is always sung can be very effective for winding down a tired out and/or cranky little one!

The idea that playing Mozart to babies made them smarter was debunked by researchers at the University of Vienna - we make sure to include a wide range of music in classes including many songs unique to Little Chirps!

Music & Sensory focus

Watch your baby grow in confidence and motor skills week on week - and watch as they greet each class with smiles and wonder!
